Claren Labs Terms and Conditions

1. Key points in plain words

• Fia is an Android app by Claren Labs for tasks, projects, a Pomodoro-style timer, countdowns, call reminders, planning and focus statistics.
• Your tasks, projects, timer history and settings are stored on your device. You own them.
• You sign in to Fia with Google. Google Drive backup is optional and free.
• Fia AI is optional. When you turn it on, the information described in section 11 is sent to our server and to OpenAI.
• Fia does not show ads, does not sell your personal data and does not include third-party analytics.
• Paid Plans and AI credits are optional. A payment can be refunded within 7 days only if nothing from it has been used, as our Refund Policy explains.
• Some features use Android permissions. Each one is optional and explained in section 9.
• Reminders and alarms are best-effort. Do not rely on Fia alone for anything critical.
• If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use Fia or buy from us.

2. About Claren Labs and these Terms

2.1Claren Labs is the trading name of Deepak Airy, a sole proprietor in India. Fia is a Claren Labs product for Android phones and tablets.

2.2These Terms apply to Fia, its features and updates, the clarenlabs.com website, and any Paid Plan, AI credits or other service you get from us.

2.3Some words have a fixed meaning. "Content" means everything you create or import in Fia, such as tasks, projects, notes, subtasks, tags, countdowns, call reminders, timer sessions, settings and backups. "Account" means the Google account you use to sign in to Fia. "Paid Plans" means Fia Plus, Fia Pro and any other paid plan we offer. "AI credits" means the units Fia AI uses to measure requests.

2.4These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, Refund and Cancellation Policy and Delivery Policy, all available at clarenlabs.com/legal, and with the terms and policies of Google, Google Play and Firebase that apply when you use those services through Fia.

3. Acceptance of these Terms

3.1You must accept these Terms before you start using Fia. Fia asks for your acceptance on the sign-in screen and records the Terms version and the date and time you accepted on your device.

3.2If you already use Fia when these Terms are introduced or updated, Fia asks you to accept the new version before you continue.

3.3If you decline, you cannot use Fia. You can decline by not ticking the box, by choosing Decline, or by uninstalling the app.

3.4You can read the current Terms at any time in Settings, below About Fia, and at clarenlabs.com/terms.

4. Who may use Fia

4.1You must be at least 13 years old to use Fia.

4.2If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must read and agree to these Terms on your behalf and supervise your use of Fia.

4.3You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian make the purchase for you, to buy a Paid Plan or AI credits.

4.4You must have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and must not be barred from using the app under any law that applies to you.

4.5If you use Fia for an organisation, you confirm that you may accept these Terms for it.

5. Your account

5.1You need to sign in with Google to use Fia. Google sign-in is provided through Firebase Authentication to identify you. Fia receives your Google account name, email address, profile photo and a unique account identifier.

5.2You are responsible for your Google account, your device lock and everything done through your Fia session. Keep your device and account secure.

5.3Give accurate information and do not sign in with an account that belongs to someone else without their permission.

5.4Paid Plans, AI credits and promo codes are linked to your Account and cannot be moved to another Account.

5.5Signing out removes your session from the device. Your Content stays on the device until you delete it or uninstall the app.

5.6Your use of your Google account is also governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy.

6. Licence to use Fia

6.1We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Fia on Android devices that you own or control, for your own personal use, in line with these Terms.

6.2Fia is licensed, not sold. You get no ownership of the app, its code, design, artwork, sounds or brand.

6.3If you installed Fia from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply to the installation.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Copy, modify, translate, decompile, reverse engineer or extract the source code of Fia, except where the law clearly allows it despite this restriction.
• Remove, hide or change any notice, logo or credit in the app.
• Use Fia for anything unlawful, harmful, fraudulent or abusive, or to store or share content that infringes the rights of others.
• Use Fia AI to create unlawful, harmful or abusive content, to try to extract its instructions, or to send requests in bulk or by automated means.
• Interfere with or try to break the security of Fia, the sign-in process, our server, Google Drive backup or any related service.
• Tamper with purchases, entitlements, AI credits, promo codes, licence checks or feature limits, or use modified, cracked or unofficial builds to access paid features.
• Sell, share or trade promo codes, Accounts, Paid Plans or AI credits.
• Use bots, scripts or other automated means to operate Fia in a way that harms the app or its services.
• Sell, rent, lease, sublicense or redistribute Fia, or present it as your own.
• Use the app in a way that puts your safety or the safety of others at risk, for example by watching the floating timer while driving.

8. Your content and your data

8.1You own your Content. We do not claim ownership of it.

8.2Fia stores your Content in private storage on your device. We do not have a server that holds your tasks, projects or timer history.

8.3Content leaves your device only through features you choose: Google Drive backup, exporting a backup or CSV file, or Fia AI as described in section 11.

8.4You give Fia permission to read, process, display, back up and restore your Content on your device, in your own Google Drive if you turn that feature on, and on our server and OpenAI's only to answer your Fia AI requests.

8.5You are responsible for your Content, for keeping your own copies and for what you put in it. Do not store information in Fia that you are not allowed to store.

8.6If you uninstall the app or clear its storage, your local Content is deleted and we cannot recover it. A backup you made yourself is the only way to restore it.

9. Permissions Fia may ask for

Fia asks for a permission only for the feature that needs it. You can refuse or withdraw any permission in Android settings. Without it, only the related feature stops working.

• Internet: needed for Google sign-in, Google Drive backup, Fia AI, Paid Plans and promo codes. Your tasks do not need it to work.
• Notifications: shows task, project, countdown and timer reminders and alerts, and a live timer while a session runs.
• Exact alarms: lets the timer end and reminders fire at the time you chose.
• Vibration: gives haptic feedback and alert vibration.
• Keep awake: lets an alert sound finish playing while the screen is off.
• Run after restart: lets Fia schedule your reminders and alarms again after the device restarts, the time or time zone changes, or the app updates.
• Display over other apps: shows the floating timer only if you turn it on.
• Foreground service: keeps the floating timer visible and running while you use other apps. It runs only when you enable that feature.
• Contacts: lets you choose birthdays to import as countdowns. Contacts are read on your device only after you open the import and allow access. Fia saves only the names and dates you select.
• Microphone: lets you record a voice clip for a call reminder, or speak a message to Fia AI, when you choose to. Voice clips stay on your device unless you include them in a backup. Speech for Fia AI is turned into text by your device's speech service.
• Files you pick: when you import or export a backup or CSV file, Fia handles only the file you choose.

10. Information we handle

10.1Our Privacy Policy at clarenlabs.com/privacy explains in full what we collect, why, who processes it and your rights. This section is a summary.

10.2From your Google account, Fia uses your name, email address, profile photo and account identifier to sign you in, to show your profile in the app and to link backups, Paid Plans and AI credits to the right account.

10.3On your device, Fia stores your Content, settings, your acceptance of these Terms and technical information needed to run reminders.

10.4On our server, which runs on Cloudflare, we keep your account identifier with your Paid Plan, promo code and AI credit records and your Fia AI usage records. We do not keep your Fia AI questions or conversations.

10.5Fia does not include advertising or third-party analytics or tracking tools. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data.

10.6Google, Firebase, Google Play, Cloudflare, OpenAI and our payment partner process some information as part of their own services under their own policies.

10.7We take reasonable steps to protect your data, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

10.8You can delete your Fia account in Settings, under Delete account. This also deletes the records on our server that are linked to it. If you no longer have the app, follow the steps at clarenlabs.com/delete-account.

10.9If we add a feature that changes how your data is handled, we will update these Terms and our Privacy Policy, and ask you to accept them again where required.

11. Fia AI

11.1Fia AI is an optional assistant in Fia. It stays off until you turn it on and agree to the data notice shown in the app.

11.2When you use it, Fia sends the information described in that notice to our server, which sends a request to OpenAI to generate a reply. This can include a summary of your stats, project names, your chat messages and, for chat and day plans, task titles and dates, countdown names and call reminder titles. Notes, subtasks, contacts and call history are never sent.

11.3AI replies can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable. Check them before you rely on them. Tasks that Fia AI proposes are added only after you confirm them.

11.4Fia AI is not medical, mental health, legal, financial or other professional advice.

11.5Fia AI uses AI credits. Your balance, allowance and reset date are shown in Fia AI. Free allowances, limits and the credits a request uses may change.

11.6You can turn off Fia AI at any time from its menu. Turning it off stops new data from being sent.

11.7We may limit, suspend or change Fia AI to prevent abuse, control costs or meet legal requirements.

12. Google Drive backup

12.1Google Drive backup is optional. Fia asks for Drive access only when you turn it on.

12.2Fia asks for Google's narrow file-level Drive permission. It lets Fia see and manage only the backup file that Fia creates, not the rest of your Drive.

12.3The backup is stored in your own Google Drive. It counts toward your Google storage and is subject to Google Drive's terms.

12.4You can disconnect Drive inside Fia, and you can remove Fia's access in your Google account permissions. Disconnecting does not delete the backup file that already exists. Delete it in Google Drive if you want it removed.

12.5Restoring or merging a backup can add to, change or replace data on your device. Check the result before you rely on it.

12.6Drive backup depends on Google's services and your connection. It may fail, be delayed or be unavailable. Keep your own copy of anything important.

12.7Google Drive backup is free.

13. Backups, exports and imports

13.1Backup files and CSV exports contain your personal Content in a form that others may be able to read. Store and share them carefully.

13.2Only import files that you trust and that came from Fia. An invalid or altered file may fail to import or may change your data.

13.3You are responsible for deciding where exported files are saved and who receives them.

14. Reminders, alarms and notifications

14.1Reminders, alarms and timer alerts are best-effort. Android, your phone maker, battery saver, Do Not Disturb, notification settings, exact-alarm permission, silent mode and low battery can delay or block them.

14.2Fia may not alert you if you deny notification or alarm permission, restrict the app in battery settings, force-stop it or if the device is switched off.

14.3Do not rely on Fia alone for time-critical, safety, medical, financial, legal or travel matters. Use a second method for anything where a missed alert would cause harm or loss.

14.4Sounds, vibration and visual effects depend on your device and settings.

15. Timers, focus sessions and statistics

15.1The timer, focus sessions, project time, streaks, charts and other statistics are for your own information and motivation.

15.2They are calculated from what you record and from your device clock. Changing the device time, time zone or battery state can make them inaccurate.

15.3Fia does not guarantee that using it will improve productivity, focus, study results or work outcomes.

15.4Fia is not medical, health, mental health or professional advice. Take regular breaks and stop if you feel unwell.

16. Free features, Paid Plans and changes to features

16.1The core features of Fia are free to use.

16.2We may offer Paid Plans, such as Fia Plus and Fia Pro, and AI credits. What each includes, its price and its billing period are shown where it is offered, before you pay.

16.3We may add, change, limit or remove features, including free and paid features, to improve the app, fix problems, meet legal requirements or keep it sustainable. We will try to give notice of significant changes inside the app.

16.4If we remove a main feature of a Paid Plan during a period you have paid for, we will offer a fair alternative or a pro-rata refund for the unused part of that period.

16.5Fia currently shows no advertising. If advertising is added, Paid Plans will remove it, and these Terms will be updated first.

17. Purchases, AI credits and promo codes

17.1When sales are open, you can buy Paid Plans and AI credits on clarenlabs.com. Payments are processed by our payment partner, which is named at checkout. We do not see or store your full card, UPI or bank details.

17.2Prices are shown in Indian rupees (INR) and include applicable taxes unless checkout states otherwise.

17.3Your purchase is linked to the Fia account you choose at checkout and is activated as described in our Delivery Policy at clarenlabs.com/delivery.

17.4If a Paid Plan renews automatically, this is shown before you pay. You can cancel at any time, and the plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.

17.5AI credits you buy are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Allowances included with a plan reset each period.

17.6Paid Plans and AI credits have no cash value. They cannot be transferred, exchanged or used outside Fia.

17.7A promo code can be used once per Account. It cannot be transferred and has no cash value. We may end a promotion or limit how many times a code can be used, and we may remove benefits obtained through misuse. Lifetime Plus obtained through a promo code does not include Fia AI.

17.8Refunds follow our Refund and Cancellation Policy at clarenlabs.com/refunds. A payment can be refunded within 7 days only if nothing from it has been used. Duplicate charges, failed activation and billing errors are always refunded.

17.9If a purchase is made through Google Play, Google Play's terms and refund policies apply to it.

18. Third-party services and software

18.1Fia relies on services from others, including Google sign-in, Firebase Authentication, Google Drive, Google Play, Cloudflare, OpenAI and our payment partner. They have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.

18.2Fia is built with the Flutter framework and open-source software. Their licences apply to their own parts. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under an open-source licence.

18.3Links or handoffs to other apps or websites are for convenience. We do not control and are not responsible for them.

19. Our intellectual property

19.1The Claren Labs and Fia names, logos, wordmarks, character artwork, illustrations, sounds, text, layouts and software belong to Claren Labs or are used under licence, and are protected by copyright and other laws.

19.2Claren Labs and Fia are trademarks of Claren Labs. Our trademark guidelines are at clarenlabs.com/trademarks.

19.3Some sounds are original and released for free use by their licence notes in the project. That permission applies only to those files and does not extend to anything else in Fia.

19.4These Terms give you no right to use the Claren Labs or Fia names, logos or artwork for any other purpose without written permission.

19.5If you believe something in Fia infringes your rights, email legal@clarenlabs.com with enough detail to find and verify it.

20. Feedback

20.1You are welcome to send ideas, bug reports and suggestions.

20.2If you do, you allow us to use them freely to improve our products, without payment or credit to you, and without any obligation to act on them.

21. Updates and availability

21.1We may release updates to fix problems, add features or keep Fia working on newer Android versions.

21.2Some updates may be needed to keep using Fia. Older versions may stop working or stop being supported.

21.3Fia may not work the same on every device, Android version or manufacturer. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error free or always available.

21.4We may suspend, change or stop Fia or any part of it. Where practical, we will give notice and a way to take your data out first.

22. Ending your use

22.1You can stop using Fia at any time by signing out and uninstalling it, or by deleting your account in Settings.

22.2We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, misuse the app or its services, or if the law requires it. Unless the law requires otherwise, unused Paid Plan time and AI credits are not refunded when access ends for a serious breach.

22.3When your access ends, your licence under these Terms ends. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as those about intellectual property, disclaimers, liability and governing law, continue to apply.

23. Disclaimer of warranties

23.1To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fia is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

23.2This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

23.3We do not guarantee that reminders will be delivered, that data will never be lost, that backups will always succeed, that Fia AI replies will be accurate or that the app will meet all of your needs.

24. Limitation of liability

24.1To the fullest extent permitted by law, Claren Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of data, profit, income, opportunity, goodwill or time, arising from your use of or inability to use Fia.

24.2This includes missed reminders, timer errors, lost or corrupted data, failed backups, inaccurate AI replies, device problems and the actions of third-party services.

24.3Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the total amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event that caused the claim.

24.4Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing limits the rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

25. Your responsibility

25.1You agree to be responsible for loss or claims that result from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of Fia, to the extent the law allows.

25.2You are responsible for backing up your Content, for keeping your device updated and for using Fia in a safe and lawful way.

26. Contact, support and grievances

26.1For help and bug reports, email support@clarenlabs.com. For payments and refunds, email billing@clarenlabs.com. For privacy requests, email privacy@clarenlabs.com. For legal and trademark matters, email legal@clarenlabs.com.

26.2Please include the app version, which you can find in Settings under About Fia, and a clear description of the issue.

26.3We aim to reply within 2 business days.

26.4Our Grievance Officer is Deepak Airy, Proprietor, reachable at grievance@clarenlabs.com. We acknowledge a grievance within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within one month. Details are at clarenlabs.com/grievance.

27. Changes to these Terms

27.1We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when features, laws or services change.

27.2Each version of the Terms has a version number and an effective date, shown at the top.

27.3When we make a material change, Fia shows the new Terms and asks you to accept them before you continue. If you do not accept, you cannot continue to use the app.

27.4The version that applies to you is the one you most recently accepted.

28. Governing law and disputes

28.1These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to rules about conflicts of law.

28.2If you have a problem, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally.

28.3If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the courts in India have jurisdiction, subject to any right you have as a consumer to bring a claim elsewhere.

29. General

29.1Entire agreement. These Terms, with the policies they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and Claren Labs about Fia and replace earlier understandings about it.

29.2Severability. If a part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force.

29.3No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not lose it.

29.4Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a sale or transfer of Fia or of the Claren Labs business.

29.5Language. These Terms are written in English. If a translation differs, the English version prevails.

29.6Headings are for convenience only and do not affect the meaning.

30. Your acknowledgement

By accepting, you confirm that:

• You have read and understood these Terms.
• You meet the age and eligibility conditions in section 4.
• You agree to be bound by them and by the policies they refer to.
• You understand that Fia is provided as is, that reminders are best-effort, that AI replies can be wrong and that you are responsible for keeping your own backups.
